Welcome to Binankha's Homepage

Hey, I'm Binankha. You're probably wondering what that means. It's from two ancient Egyptian words: "bina", which means "phoenix", and "ankh", which means "life". It can be translated to mean "risen phoenix" or "eternal fire".

I am a senior at UNT, studying anthropology and philosophy. I am interested in both cultural anthropology and archaeology, especially as they relate to symbology and religion, and I want to travel to many foreign countries to do field research, as well as teaching at the college level.

I like to play the cello, write poetry and short stories, and listen to lots of different kinds of music. Classical and Celtic are my favorites. Some other interests include Amateur (Ham) Radio, writing, reading fantasy and sci-fi, and watching cool shows like Enterprise. In addition, I love anime, especially Rurouni Kenshin.

I am a Unitarian Universalist, more commonly known as a "UU-er", and I am also a peace activist. I have signed the Manifesto 2000 for a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence, which is a pledge started by Nobel Peace Prize winners and the United Nations General Assembly as a way of translating the UN's resolutions into a format accessible to all people. More than 75,000,000 people have signed it already! Click here to sign as well and join the global peace movement.

I am also a member of the Green Party, which is a grassroots political organization promoting the Ten Key Values of Grassroots Democracy, Ecological Wisdom, Social Justice and Equal

Opportunity, Nonviolence, Decentralization, Community Based Economics, Feminism, Respect for Diversity, Personal and Global Responsibility, and Future Focus and Sustainability. There are links to the Green Party USA and the Texas Green Party websites on my links page.
